To Peel or Not to Peel? That is the Question!

Katana Collectibles

At Katana Collectibles, we're often asked by customers whether they should remove the protective film from our box protectors. It's a question we take seriously, as our primary goal is to help preserve valuable collectibles.

We've noticed some customers choose to keep the protective film on, believing it provides additional protection. While we understand the reasoning, we wanted to share some expert insights on why removing this film is actually the recommended approach.

Why Peeling is Best Practice:

  1. Superior Display Quality - Our PET protectors are engineered to provide crystal clear visibility. The protective film creates a cloudy appearance that diminishes the professional presentation of items on display.
  2. Material Compatibility - The PET material of our protectors is specifically chosen for its non-reactive properties that won't damage box prints. The temporary film isn't designed for long-term contact with collectibles.
  3. Preventing Structural Issues - Temperature and humidity affect PET and PE film differently. This difference can cause warping over time as the materials expand and contract at different rates.
  4. Moisture Protection - Perhaps most importantly, moisture can become trapped between the film and protector, creating a potentially damaging environment for valuable items.

Our box protectors are designed with both protection and presentation in mind. While that extra layer might seem like added security, it's actually just for shipping. For the best protection and display quality, we recommend removing the protective film completely.
